Artist's Description

I found this chair in an old barn at the Fisk Farm in Isle LaMotte, Vermont.
Could this chair have a history?
Theodore Roosevelt was staying at the Fisk Farm when he got news that President McKinley was assassinated on September 1901.

Was Mr. Roosevelt sitting in this chair when he first got the news? Maybejust sayingwho knows?

Was he sitting in this chair in his room when he was pondering the future of the country? Maybejust sayingwho knows?

Why does the chair have one short leg? Could it be that Mr. Roosevelt was a Rough Rider and that was well..rough. Perhaps he had a bad back and he had the chair leg shortened for his comfort. Maybe. Just saying. Who knows?

I could ask the owner of the Fisk Farm, but what fun would that be?

About George Robinson

George Robinson

I got my start in photography by being a bad boy. I was in junior high and running with the wrong kids. I grew up in an Air Force family and my parents ordered me to get a hobby and took me to the hobby shops on base. Of course, I didn't like any of them so my dad picked the photo shop. The photo shop had cameras, a studio with lights, a 6 person darkroom and everything was free except film. The Airmen took me with them into the desert to shoot landscapes. I decided to study photography for 2 1/2 years at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara CA. It was brutal, but well worth it. When I graduated Uncle Sam was waiting, with open arms, and somehow I was a U.S. Army photographer with a top secret clearance...
