Waits River, Vermont is probably the best known village in New England. It hasn't changed much over the years and it probably will never change. It was -9f when I made this photograph. I used a view camera. With this type of camera the photographer puts a dark cloth over the camera and his or her head. The image is viewed upside down. I decided to study photography for 2 1/2 years at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara CA. It was brutal, but well worth it. When I graduated Uncle Sam was waiting, with open arms, and somehow I was a U.S. Army photographer with a top secret clearance...
